About

mies4all is a free interpretation of the work of the architect Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969). Mies introduces a certain idea of aesthetic based on material honesty and structural integrity. His search of an universal and non-narrative architecture leads him to surrender the romantic idea of design from scratch to adopt a logic of selection of manufactured items. He applied some techniques that are actually used by all graphic and design softwares and GUI: the grid, the layer (transparency), the menu (choice of elements among libraries), the cut and paste.

Reference

Mies van der Rohe's architecture is constantly dealing with tensions and in-betweens. The minimalism of its design reveals the very few elements composing the building: the slab, the column, the wall. From theses objects emerge patterns, loops, algorithms. The whole composes a visual and spatial program.
